Painting an interior of a home can be exciting, but at what cost? Changing a wall’s color can invoke different feelings and attitudes, and effect your day to day life more than you think. But before you decide on that next paint project, its best to consider some items you may not have thought about.
Switching to a Drastically Different Color
When you switch from say a bright red to a white, it will take significant more effort to cover that red. Same goes for if you want to paint red over white. It may take 5+ coats to achieve the color you want. Tinted primers are a fantastic way to reduce the amount of time spent, but still involves multiple coats.
Smoothing Out Imperfections
If you have walls with imperfections, holes, etc than you will need additional accommodation to ensure the new coat of paint looks great when its all said and done. Patching holes and smoothing out gaps and imperfections may take a few extra hours depending on the scope of the project.
Total Square Footage
Considering the entire scope of the paint project will allow you to fully understand the costs associated. If you have a large room with tall ceilings, scaffolding and tall ladders will need to be brought in to reach those tough spots. That adds extra cost in labor and materials.
Trim Painting
Are you just painting the walls, or also considering the trim? The trim adds significant amount more time and precise work. Any prep work to paint the trim is always included in our pricing.
Painting the Ceiling
It might seem like something you would automatically consider, but sometimes the ceiling is okay to be left with its original paint. Not many blemishes occur on the ceiling due to its inaccessibility, so they often remain untouched and in good condition.
