House painting can be a big undertaking, and can drastically change the appearance of your home. Trust the professional painters to get the job done right and to your satisfaction.
For interior paints, there are varying paint sheens, or gloss levels, that need to be considered.
High gloss
Semi-gloss
Satin
Eggshell
Flat Enamel
Flat
High gloss would be best for trim work or areas that get a ton of use. But high gloss will also show imperfections more easily due to the sheen. Semi-gloss will be your better bet for those applications.
Satin and eggshell are fantastic for bedrooms, kitchens, or living rooms. Eggshell is probably your most common gloss chosen because it has a slight sheen but is still durable to wipe. Satin will give you a bit more protection and shine.
Flat is really not recommended for areas that are prone to any spills or water. Flat paint is not able to be wiped easily and can result in permanent stains that will need to be covered up. Many contractors use basic flat white paint to paint an entire house before someone sells it, but its cutting corners and not your best choice. But the positive aspect about using flat paint is that it hides imperfections very well, such as walls that are not smooth or covering up patch work. Its a more muted “warm” appearance overall.
